Natasha Black, Ph.D.
Welcome to My Practice
Lasting change is difficult to come by. In our current era, we are enraptured with quick fixes and scientific cures that promise to remedy our old wounds in a matter of weeks, days, even minutes. While such interventions can sometimes be beneficial, for me, I have always striven for more—to understand more deeply what underlies our ailments as means to promote deep and abiding change. I specialize in psychodynamic psychotherapy, meaning that I am committed to helping you heal through a detailed understanding of the workings of your inner life and through the context of our relationship as it unfolds. I am well-versed in contemporary psychoanalytic theory and research and will actively work with you to help you feel more at peace with yourself and be better able to tolerate and appreciate the ebbs and flows of your life.

More About My Work

To be sure, therapy is not a promise that every day going forward will be filled with bliss. Therapy can, however, dramatically relieve suffering and help you to develop the internal resources to cope more sturdily against the vicissitudes of your life. By engaging in depth-oriented psychotherapy, you are making a commitment to yourself to explore carefully the parts of your life that cause you pain. While this at times may be difficult, you will not have to do it alone. By making such a commitment, you are on a therapeutic path not only to uncover the buried pains at the root of your symptoms, but also to unlocking avenues that may bring more meaning to your life. I strive to cultivate an atmosphere that promotes far-reaching change, such that you will ultimately feel less burdened by your difficulties and more enlivened by your joys.
